Since everyone is so afraid to say it this year, I figured I would title the entry Merry Christmas.\u00a0 Oh, I said it again.\u00a0 I hope I don’t offend anyone.\u00a0 Who am I kidding?\u00a0 I hope that I do offend some people.\u00a0 This idea that we can only say Happy Holidays is stupid.\u00a0 Plain and simple stupid.\u00a0 If you don’t celebrate Christmas, fine.\u00a0 Don’t. But it is time we as Christians (devout, twice a year church goers,\u00a0and\/or everyone\u00a0in between)\u00a0stand up and take back this holiday.\u00a0 I’m not saying this to be arrogant.\u00a0 If you choose not to celebrate Christmas that is your right.\u00a0 Maybe you celebrate Hanukkah or something else. But when the vast majority of American’s do celebrate Christmas, and\u00a0it should be acknowledged.<\/p>\n
I went into a book store yesterday, I won’t mention the name.\u00a0 I needed to buy a gift card.\u00a0 They have several choices but no Merry Christmas version.\u00a0 So, I figured they were out of stock.\u00a0 The lady behind the counter says, “no, we try to keep it politically correct this time of year”.\u00a0 I couldn’t believe it!\u00a0 Then, as I’m walking out of the store, I noticed there is no mention of Christmas anywhere.\u00a0 It’s just the “holiday season” at this particular bookstore.\u00a0 I guess they were afraid if they put up a Christmas sign, they might have to put up a Festivus pole too.<\/p>\n
Here is a newsflash for all you struggling retailers.\u00a0 Come Christmas season 2009, you better have signs up saying Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas gift cards on your counter,\u00a0and have sales people that aren’t afraid to say Merry Christmas.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because I am going to make it a requirement next year for my shopping.\u00a0 If you’re too “politically correct” to say Merry Christmas (or at least recognize that Christmas exists) then I’m not spending a dime in your store or on your website.\u00a0 I encourage you and your family to do the same next year.\u00a0 It’s amazing, Christmas is such a big time for some of these retailers, yet some refuse to even mention it by name. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to step down from my soapbox, have some eggnog and\u00a0wrap some Christmas presents for my family and friends, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
